Madeira: the oldest new wine you can buy
Article Abstract:
Madeira is a fortified wine, meaning alcohol is added before fermentation is complete. Fans of Madeira say that it is underappreciated, and that wine lovers should take the time to become better acquainted with the 4 Madeira types; Sercial, Verdelho, Bual, and Malmsey. Sercial is the driest, while Malmsey is the sweetest. Those unfamiliar with Madeira should start with an affordable non-vintage blend such as Cossart Gordon Bual.
