Mantequarias Leonesas bought by mystery investor group

Article Abstract:

Spanish supermarket chain Mantequerias Leonesas is to be sold to investment group Sais for 325 million Spanish pesetas. It is expected that the agreement will be finalised by end-March 1996, but Sias will invest an initial 1 billion Spanish pesetas in the chain forthwith. Manteqeruas has debts of some 5 billion Spanish pesetas, owed to suppliers and the government.

Ahold buys Pathmark

Article Abstract:

Ahold, the Dutch food retailer, will acquire the U.S. supermarket chain, Pathmark which has 132 stores in the New York area. The company has also agreed to acquire two Argentinian chains,Supamer and Gonzalez, which together operate 75 stores.

Ahold buys Gastronoom

Article Abstract:

Ahold, Dutch food retailer, will acquire Gastronoom, an institutional food supplier, for HF1778m. Ahold says that after the acquisition it will have a 10% share of the institutional food supply market.
