Michael Broadbent of Christie's International Wine Dept. has been promoting wine auctions since 1966. Broadbent, whose efforts have helped Christie's to become the top international wine auction house, has won nearly every award from the wine industry, including the coveted French Merite National.

New world auction record set in New York
Article Abstract:
The Apr 13, 1996 wine auction by Zachys-Christie's raised a record $2,390,328. The record sales was propelled by a $112,500 bid for a case of 12 bottles of Chateau Mouton-Rothschild 1945 red bordeaux wine. Many of the prices paid well exceeded the estimates, but some bargains were found.
