Methanol-tainted wines found in Argentina
Article Abstract:
Twenty-five people died and many more became ill after drinking wine tainted with methanol from Bodegas Nietos de Gonzalo Torraga winery. The owner and winemaker were arrested on suspicion of adding the methanol to reduce costs. None of the wine was exported to the US.

Built to last: enduring structure characterizes very old to recent vintages of Chateau Latour at a tasting in Nashville
Article Abstract:
A tasting of 42 vintages of Chateau Latour ranging from the wine of 1892 to 1994 showed that many are still stunning. The 1945 and 1990 merit a 100 on a scale of one to 100, and the 1961 vintage rates a 99. Prices and other factors are also discussed.

Phelan-Segur battles back; Bordeaux chateau rebuilds after tainted vintages
Article Abstract:
Phelan-Segur had three vintages in the 1980s that were so disappointing that the wine had to be destroyed. Vintner Thierry Gardinier concluded that the fungicide Orthene was responsible and sued its maker, Chevron Corp. The new wines are better.
