Former Beringer Pres is the likely buyer of Nestle's Wine World Estates, which includes Beringer Vineyards, Wine World's biggest and most important asset. Other contenders for the property include Canandaigua Wine Co and Brown-Forman Corp. A decision is expected by late Nov 1996.

Sonoma's Chateau St. Jean appears headed to Wine World

St. Jean owner Suntory of Japan is nearing completion of a deal to sell St. Jean to the Wine World group for nearly $50 million. Suntory bought St. Jean, which had 1995 revenues of $15 million, in 1984 for $40 million.
