Opportunities for growth pinpointed in German foodservice sector
Article Abstract:
A report produced by UK export representatives, Food From Britain, found the German foodservice market, for frozen and chilled food products, was growing. The expanding German market offers new openings for UK food manufacturers. The report suggested export foods should be made specifically to suit the German market. The German foodservice market had increased its business for food consumed outside the home by 25%, between 1991-97. German restaurants took 27.8% of the foodservice market, in 1996, and snack food from retail and fast food outlets accounted for 38.2% of the market.
