Sunken Champagne fetches record price at Christie's London Sale
Article Abstract:
Champagne recovered from the wreck of a Swedish schooner that sank in the Baltic Sea in 1916 fetched record prices at an auction in London. A bottle of Heidsieck 1907 that was recovered from the site was bought for $4,608 which is the record price ever paid for a bottle of wine. Other records were set and many bottles far outsold their estimated prices.
