Syrah's lessons to be learned

Syrah, producing all kinds of exciting new wines is poised to be the next red wine star from California and may some day, rival the king, Cabernet Sauvignon, even as it faces its share of obstacles to reaching a broader acceptance. A wide-open field, with no one area, producer, appellation or style in a decisive position of dominance, might be the most exciting element of the Syrah boom.

For 1994 Cabernets, the time is now

The tasting of the top 1994 Cabernets in the year 2004 showed that most of these wines were in excellent shape and stood above the crowd carrying a 96-point vintage rating on Wine Spectator's 100-point scale. The taste of this wine is described as dark, dense, and concentrated that exhibits rich, youthful California Cabernet flavors, ending with a long, saturated finish.
