The mystery of bottle variation
Article Abstract:
The taste of identical vintages varied from bottle to bottle in a recent banquet featuring Leroy Burgundies from 1949. Bottle variation can be caused by storage variance or cork flaws, but usually comes from lot variation. Burgundies were frequently bottled directly from individual barrels before the 1970s.
