Transatlantic auction raises funds for French-American relations

A charity wine auction broadcast from the Eiffel Tower in Paris drew bidders from Manhattan and France. The Oct 2, 1996, auction proceeds went to benefit the American Friends of Blerancourt. The group is renovating a historical French pavilion. Specific wines are discussed.

The Maxim's name pushes up prices at Paris auction

Pierre Cardin decided to sell of 8,000 bottle's from the cellar of his renowned Paris restaurant after realizing that it would take more than 40 years to sell all the restaurant's wines. Bidders paid $1.67 million for 686 lots.
