U.S., U.K. auction prices approach parity
Article Abstract:
The auction prices for wines sold in the US or UK have become fairly even, as demand for rare vintages has risen worldwide. Christie's London is more discriminating about what wines it will sell since the market is doing so well. Several prices are listed.

Butterfield holds its highest-grossing auction ever
Article Abstract:
Butterfield & Butterfield's Sep 21, 1996, auction in Beverly Hills, CA, resulted in a $1.8 million gross. Ninety-nine percent of the 710 lot was sold. A six-bottle case of 1970 Chateau Latour sold for $2,185 and 1961 Chateau Petrus sold for $31,050 a case.
