Vegetarian foods become more popular as health concerns grow
Article Abstract:
The vegetarian food market has grown 83% during the past five years to 388 million pounds sterling, according to a Market Assessment Publications report. The main reasons for the move away from meat are health concerns and the increasing availability of vegetarian ready meals, although the majority of true vegetarians claim that animal welfare concerns is the main reason for choosing a vegetarian diet. However the Meat and Livestock Commission has recently boosted its advertising campaigns and The Food Commission has recently criticised vegetarian sausages for being too fatty and expensive.
