Viognier: the Rhone Valley's rare white wine makes steady progress in California
Article Abstract:
Over 1,000 acres in California were planted with Viognier grapes in 1996. The once obscure grape has also expanded in its homeland of France. The quality of the white wine that is know for its full body and spiciness is also increasing. Twelve Viogners rated at 80 or better are listed.

Master thespian: transplanted Brit David Reynolds plays up the theater of charity wine auctions

Reynolds began presiding over charity auctions in 1984. He worked for the Beverly Hills, CA, Wine Merchant and other wine retail outlets. The 42-year-old wine expert has been a full-time auctioneer for more than a decade.
