The 1996 vintage offers some of the best California Cabernets of the decade, though the quality of the year overall is not consistent. Because 1997 was one of the largest crops in history and is expected to also be a quality year, collectors may wish to buy 1996 vintages selectively. Weathering 2003

Article Abstract:

The challenging 2003 growing season led to leaner, less concentrated and crisper wines and it made a difficult vintage in California Chardonnay. Some of the unusually complex and richly flavored bottlings that can still be found, mostly from Napa Valley and Sonoma County, are presented.
