Article Abstract:

Frederick Stevens, former CEO at wine retail chain Fred Meyer, is trying to sell the first six bottles of Robert Drouhin's first Oregon Pinot Noir, which Stevens bought for $5,300 at an auction. The same vintage of 1988 Drouhin Pinots are selling for about $30 retail and should not be cellared for any more than about five more years.

Northern exposure: Portland Hotel takes wine as its theme

Kimco Hotel Management has renovated a 107-room small hotel in downtown Portland and given it a wine theme. Oregon wines are featured, tastings are held in the lobby, and each room is decorated to enhance the wine image.

Oregon rolls out the Pinot

Over $125,000 was raised at the Nov 1992 barrel auction that focused entirely on Pinot Noir. The charity auction featured the wines of 18 Oregon wineries, most of which offered special wines created for the auction.
