'Cancer and the Big Lie'
Article Abstract:
A forthcoming book contends that the public perceptions of industry's role in causing cancer is a lie. The author cites many scientists who agree that there is little evidence supporting the contention that industrial pollutants are cancer-causing. In fact, cancer-causing agents occur naturally in the environment. Cancer prevention is actually something that requires personal involvement. Diet, viruses, sexual promiscuity, alcohol and tobacco account for more than ninety per cent of American cancer deaths.
