Holding pattern
Article Abstract:
The overall quality of 1997 wines from Washington state is slightly better than '95 and '96, but still lack the concentration of an outstanding vintage. 1998 wines are expected to improve. In general, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon fared best, and several Syrahs also show promise. Merlots did not improve much from '95 and '96. Guides to the best wines and best-value wines are included.
