Article Abstract:
The economic status of women 65 years old and older differs by marital status. The earnings and expenses of older women who are living alone and who are either divorced, never married or widowed were examined. The study found that widowed older women had lower average earnings and expenses as compared to divorced and never-married women. Differences in sources of income were also noted. U.S. real income and wage trends
Article Abstract:
Wages and salaries per worker have not increased to any remarkable degree. Only nonwage supplements, such as fringe benefits, marked minimal growth. The difference between the increase of real per capita personal income and the increase in worker income arises from the increased work force participation rate and the variation in compensation's share of personal income. Income per household has not increased as rapidly as per capita personal income, and it has not increased quicker than wages and salaries per worker.
