Columbia Forest Products acquired Levesque Plywood following the death of co-founder Yvon Levesque in 1993. Levesque Plywood had undergone a reorganization and was seeking a strategic partner when Columbia finally completed the acquisition in 1996. The acquisition will enable Levesque Plywood to increase its growth rate, and it will give Columbia a foothold in the Canadian market.

Land-for-timber talks widen in British Columbia

MacMillan Bloedel Ltd, the first company to negotiate with the government of British Columbia on the topic, has said that it is prepared to give up some of its timber land in compensation for a reforms in land and timber tenure.
