Article Abstract:
Wood industry analysts are optimistic about industry growth in 1996 despite projections of possible economic recession. Industry growth will be tied to fluctuations in interest and mortgage rates. A healthy home building market is expected to produce continued demand for wood and wood products. Lumber production in the US and Canada is expected to remain flat in 1996 while capacity increases and demand are expected to boost oriented strand board and structural engineered wood product production.
