Exponential growth marks Chile's top panel producer

Santiago, Chile-based Maderas y Sinteticos SA has five particleboard plants operating in Argentina and Chile, two medium-density fiberboard plants beginning operation and one oriented strand board plant under development. The company has 95% of the particleboard market share in Chile and 46% in Argentina. Annual capacity increased from 260,000 m3 in 1992 to 520,000 m3 in 1994 and is expected to reach 1 million m3 by 1997.

French MDF plant fits in the 'middle' for Isoroy
Article Abstract:
Isoroy's medium-density fiberboard (MDF) plant in Ussel, France, produces (MDF) at a rate of 260,000 m3/yr with a total particleboard output of 275,000 m3/yr. The plants gets about 60% of its raw material from surrounding forests, but its isolation results in higher transportation costs. Isoroy sells its MDF panels under the brand name Isorel in a broad range of sizes and also produces products with added value.

Chilean panel producer expands in Argentina
Article Abstract:
Chile's Maderas y Sinteticos SA (MASISA) is expanding its Argentine operations as part of its overall expansion plan. The company's Argentine facilities include a particleboard plant and an under-construction medium-density fiberboard plant. Expansions are expected to increase MASISA's annual production capacity from 550,000 cubic meters, as of Apr 1995, to about 1 million cubic meters, by 1997.
