Lumber operation adds component manufacture
Article Abstract:
The millwork and hardwood dimension plant which was added to Middle Tennessee Lumber Company Inc.'s Burns, TN, operations in 1992 uses modern equipment to produce cabinet components, furniture parts, mouldings, and edge-glued panels. The rough mill uses computer optimizing systems, command systems, and an optimized chop saw produced by Barr-Mullin Inc. Other manufacturers of equipment for the plant include Froedge Machine and Supply Co., Michael Weinig AG, Wisconsin Automated Machinery Corp., and Industrial Boiler Co.

Lumber slicing system offers kerfless alternative
Article Abstract:
Linck Manufacturing has developed advanced lumber processing machines that allow sawmills to slice lumber without generating sawdust. Sawmills can use the slicing technology to manufacture lumber of various lengths and slicing thicknesses ranging from 0.5 mm to 15 mm, reduce wood deformation during processing and shorten its drying cycle. Lumber slices are used in the manufacture of a wide variety of wood products such as furniture panels, parquetry flooring, structural lumber, veneer and panels for concrete forming.
