The debate over tenure
Article Abstract:
There continues a debate on whether colleges and universities should continue the tenure program that has been around since the middle ages. Arguments against the program point to the fact that tenured professors cannot be removed even if their productivity and their standard of teaching is below par aside from the fact that the tenure program discriminates against women and minorities. Proponents of the program argue that being tenured ensures that they will not be punished for voicing out concerns or pursuing studies that are otherwise controversial.
