Article Abstract:

Cinerama was introduced in 1952, providing films in wide angle screen format, and shown accompanied by seven-chanel stereo sound. It was replaced with newer techniques by the mid-60s but is enjoying a resurgence of interest in 2001, with LA's Cinerama Dome under restoration.
