Burma's PR offensive
Article Abstract:
Burma's State Law and Order Restoration Council (Slorc), the military junta that rules the country, has begun a new public relations effort to improve its international reputation. Slorc's bloody repression of a pro-democracy movement in 1988 and refusal to accept the outcome of elections in 1990 has sustained the regime's image as a violator of human rights. Slorc has employed Lester Wolff, a former US congressman, to lobby the US government in its behalf. However, Slorc's continuing brutality should persuade the Clinton administration to maintain pressure on the regime.

Can Presidentialism work like parliamentarism?
Article Abstract:

Latin American Presidential democracies are highlighted as they usually have divided government in the context of multiparty systems.
