Article Abstract:
Fire alarms of the future will be interconnected with other security and building systems in line with the trend towards networked systems. Brian Mahoney, product manager of advanced systems at Cedar Knolls, NJ-based Cerberus Pyrotronics Inc. notes two recent advances in fire alarm technology. One is a dedicated open-system architecture designed to address reliability concerns in system interface and the other is an application-specific detection which can detect and reject false alarm phenomena.
