Technical change: political options and imperatives
Article Abstract:
The advance of technology has global implications, but is still affected by human interests. The rapid spread of information makes it harder than ever for countries to distance themselves from global events or control what their citizens see and hear. Medical advancements will continue to increase global life expectancy, leading to a greater world population. Weapons are now more powerful and easily accessed than ever, and can result in peace, or increased terrorism. Environmental degradation has resulted from, and may be cured by, advancement. Technological research gives poor nations a chance to develop, but is still controlled by political forces.

Political science, political theory and policy-making in an interdependent world
Article Abstract:
Increased globalization limits the ability of political theorists to grasp the causality of international integration. This makes policy-making a tenuous process, and as interdependence increases the number of political and economical factors under consideration will force political scientists to concentrate on the past, rather than predict the future. Political theorists can only contribute observations about values, history, and the difficulties of understanding the political process. The integration of global policy cannot lead to an integration of judgement or understanding.

The political regime of the Islamic Republic of Iran in comparative perspective
Article Abstract:
The original intention of Iran's regime born in the anti-Shah opposition of 1978 was to create a totalitarian climate, but this was prevented by ideological and organizational peculiarities and a constitutional framework. Iranian politics of the 21st century contain authoritarian, totalitarian, post-totalitarian, and democratic tendencies in dynamic balance.
