A Hamilton KSA report predicts that by 2001 health networks will be based on three basic organizational models: loose alliances, for-profit businesses, and public utilities. Hamilton KSA further suggests 10 strategies for promoting success within one of these models. Strategies include integrating patient care, entering into partnerships, installing clinical management systems, and reallocating capital investments.

Managed care companies might raise premiums in 1998 due to rising consumer demands for more healthcare options. Estimates for increased premiums range from 3% to 10%. One study found that health care costs will increase twice as fast as inflation over the next five years. Higher health care costs and premiums probably will impact middle class consumers and small business entrepreneurs the most.
