Dollars and death

Article Abstract:

The high costs of caring for terminally ill patients, particularly in the last stages of life, may force many economically strapped families to seek accelerated means of death for the ill family member, some ethicists and medical practitioners believe. The prominent role that money plays in many cases of physician-assisted suicide troubles many who believe that the right to die may become the duty to die for families who cannot afford enough coverage to sustain the life of a dying loved one.
