Protozoan infection in the perinatal period
Article Abstract:
Identifying protozoan infections early improves the health of pregnant women and their infants. Nurses, nurse practitioners, and nurse-midwives do not have established intervention guidelines in 1997, increasing the risk for pregnant women in rural and urban areas with unsanitary, overcrowded conditions. Prenatal education, environmental assessment, improved water purification and proper waste disposal can help lower the incidence of protozoan infection.

Complementary and Alternative Therapies in Perinatal Populations: A Selected Review of the Current Literature

A selective review is conducted of complementary and alternative therapies in perinatal care. Twenty modalities were reviewed in relationship to perinatal nursing and midwifery. The examination includes, but is not limited to acupressure and acupuncture, homeopathy, massage, naturopathy, reflexology, biofeedback and craniosacral therapy. Much of the information published about these modalities in perinatal care is anecdotal.
