Guidelines update: Aggressively target cardiovascular risk factors

Article Abstract:

The American Heart Association (AHA) and the American College of Cardiology (ACC) have released updated guidelines calling for more aggressive and intense risk-reduction treatment of established risk factors in patients suffering from cardiovascular diseases. The update recommends lowering the target levels for low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and expanding use of established therapies for hypertension, weight and diabetes management as well as yearly influenza vaccination.
