Is it worth being a doctor in America today?

Article Abstract:

Being a doctor has become increasingly difficult in recent years. The paperwork is overwhelming, medical malpractice premiums have increased dramatically and the industry has come under increasing regulation. In such times of transition, it is useful for physicians to focus on the basics of their profession. The basis of the profession is healing people and this is what unites doctors. No amount of regulation or paperwork can change this one important fact.

Unsung heroes are real giants of medicine

Article Abstract:

John Palmer Johnson was a caring, passionate physician who worked with children infected with HIV. Johnson, who died of melanoma at the age of 42, helped more than 500 children as the head of the University of Maryland Medical System's allergy and immunological department. However, his commitment to children and their families was but one instance of physicians helping others.
