Septate uterus: new idea on the histologic features of the septum in the abnormal uterus

Article Abstract:

The septum in a septate uterus contains less connective tissue and more muscle fibers and blood vessels than commonly believed. A septate uterus is a uterine anomaly in which the two tubal structures that develop into the uterus do not completely fuse into a single cavity. Sixteen Irani women underwent surgery to remove the septum in hopes of curing infertility, preterm birth, and repeated miscarriage. Samples of tissue were taken from the the tip, the middle, and the area where the septum joined the uterus, and from the body of the uterus. Microscope slides were prepared and visually analyzed for the proportions of connective tissue, muscle, and blood vessels.

The diagnosis and reproductive outcome after surgical treatment of the complete septate uterus, duplicated cervix and vaginal septum
