Vaginal thrush: diagnosis and treatment options

Article Abstract:

Vaginal candidiasis, or thrush, the main symptom of which is severe itching and soreness around the vulva and in the vagina, is extremely common, with seven out of 10 women experiencing at least one episode in their lives. Most women may carry candida albicans, the most common cause of thrush, without developing the symptoms of thrush. The symptoms develop under particular conditions, including stress, pregnancy and changes in vaginal pH. The most widely used traditional form of treatment is an antifungal agent.

Incidence and diagnosis of sleep paralysis: Sleep paralysis can be a terrifying, almost paranormal, experience

Article Abstract:

Sleep paralysis is a surprisingly common phenomenon, where the sleeper feels paralyzed but is fully conscious. It is linked to the rapid eye movement (REM) sleeping stage when dreams occur. Sleep paralysis may be accompanied by hypnagogic hallucinations. Treatment is not usually needed for isolated occurrences, and nurses can help by reassuring patients that it is a benign, although unpleasant, occurrence.
