New technology-based firms and technology acquisition in Portugal: firms' adaptive responses to a less favourable environment
Article Abstract:
The startup, evolution and growth of Portuguese new technology-based firms (NTBF) are explored. Specifically, two types of NTBF launches are investigated to determine how the nature of new firm creation affects NTBF's strategies for technology acquisition in an unfavorable R and D climate. The first concerns firms with a privileged link to a source of new technology while the other concerns independent firms which develop their own technology.
