Bill Cowher, who is the longest-serving coach in the National Football League (NFL), led the Pittsburgh Steelers to a 21-10 victory over the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XL in February 2005, breaking the team's years-long pattern of success in the regular season followed by losses in the play-offs. Cowher led the Steelers to the play-offs in each of his first six seasons as coach, earning the team the reputation of a strong running attack and a blitzing defense.
