Anti-Cancer Drugs
Article Abstract:
Many pharmaceutical houses are working on new anti-cancer drugs. The market for chemotherapy drugs is estimated to be around $300 million per year. Anti-cancer drugs did not capture a significant share of the drug market until the late 1960s. Growing public interest in finding a cure for cancer prompted more money to be spent on research to find a cure. Some major new drugs have recently been introduced. None of these drugs is without side effects. Most of the chemotherapy drugs are highly toxic. Some less toxic drugs have already been introduced abroad. Monoclonal antibodies have been developed, and appear to have significant therapeutic promise. Pharmaceutical researchers are now making significant discoveries in biotechnology and chemotherapy.
