Cactus chronicles
Article Abstract:
Many European botanists and hobbyists were exploring the New World and studying cacti by the 16th century. In the 18th and 19th centuries, cactus enthusiasts ventured into unexplored regions of the United States and Mexico in search of new species. Interest in the exotic plant led to the idea of a desert plant and animal laboratory. In 1903 the Desert Botanical Laboratory near Tucson Arizona was completed. The lab continues to launch explorations of the Americas and aids in the discovery of more cacti species.

Unban the Taliban
Article Abstract:
There are only three countries that recognize the Taliban as the government in Afghanistan, though it has effectively been the government for three years. There is a need for recognition of a government in Afghanistan, and the Taliban appears to have provided stability and controls 90% of Afghanistan. There are arguments that recognition should be denied for ethical reasons, but there is a case for using recognition as a way to exert pressure on the Taliban on a range of issues, including control of terrorism.
