Caesar II
Article Abstract:
Sierra On-Line's $59.95 Caesar II offers great graphics and a high level of strategic elements, making its few blemishes hardly noticeable. Caesar II is similar to SimCity, except that players are asked to build a Roman society. Players can choose from a plethora of structures, including houses, schools, coliseums, temples, armies, bathhouses, factories, theaters and markets. Each structure effects the population, resulting in a range of scenarios. Caesar's interface makes it easy to track almost every vital element. The game also includes campaign and combat options that place it above similar city-building simulation games. Caesar's graphics are excellent, displayed in detailed Super VGA. On the downside, the game includes some annoyingly repetitive ambient noises and suffers from unimpressive background music.
