Although the Clara Barton stamp was issued Sept 7, 1948 at her birthplace in Oxford, MA, the famous nurse actually considered Danville, NY her home and spent much of her time there. A brief account is given of Barton's life and her work in the establishment of the American Red Cross.

Earth Day stamps designed by children

The US Postal Service and McDonald's have teamed up to issue four stamps designed by children that depict efforts to save the environment. The four children that designed that stamps are ages 10 to 14, and won a contest of over 150,000 children.
