Faroe Islands honors the wives of seafaring men
Article Abstract:
A woman of the Faeroe Islands learns by watching her mother that the women do not cry when the men leave them and go off to sea. When it is a girl's turn to say goodbye to a boyfriend or husband, there are no tears. The lives of these courageous women was celebrated in two stamp issues, April, 1995.

U.N. honors Conference on Human Settlements
Article Abstract:
On Jun 3, 1996, The UN will issue three se-tenant sets to mark the start of the 2nd conference on human habitats to be held in Istanbul, Turkey. Each strip contains five stamps with a design that grades from a village to an urban habitat scene. The deterioration of global housing is discussed.

Portugal honors two patrons of oceanography
Article Abstract:
The two stamps were issued on Jan 11, 1996 honoring the two rulers who were practicing oceanographers during the 1880s to beginning 1900s. Charles and Albert corresponded and had several joint ventures. Their activities, discoveries, writings and contributions to oceanography are discussed.
