Offshore fishing requires some degree of strength and physical fitness and can cause injuries to those who are not in shape. Swimming and snorkeling are good cardiovascular exercises. Workouts for the upper body are also recommended.

Against all odds

Article Abstract:

John Phillips and his fishing partners caught three black marlin with sequential tag numbers in less than two weeks off the coast of Cairns, Australia. The experience seems to indicate that migration of the marlin was minimal.

Observations of the feeding habits of sailfish reveal that the conventional dropback technique needs improvement. 'Rodtipping,' lifting the rod overhead whenever a fish is raised, is more effective.
