Jewelry in the shape of a heart is known to be traditional gift for Valentine's Day, as heart-shaped faceted stones are frequently seen at gem shows and rock shops. Ernie Hawes, the founding member of the New Mexico Faceters Guild, presents the technical details of a unique heart-shaped design that he created for his wife.

Merrill's inspiration: Intermediate faceting project
Article Abstract:
Merrill Murphy used to calculate workable angles and cut a design to evaluate its general effectiveness, in contrast to the computer aided faceting designs. Some of the drawings of Merrill that were seen are found to be complete, angles calculated, and stones finished.
