Courson: garden show extraordinaire
Article Abstract:
A visit to Chateau de Courson in France and its autumn flower show is described. The show was a refreshing surprise to someone who had come to expect the best gardens in England. The display was located on several acres of land, and was reminiscent of the Chelsea Flower Show.

Water lily fit for a queen
Article Abstract:
The water lily species Victoria regia was first cultivated in England in 1845, but it was not until 1849 that the plants began to bloom. Gardener Joseph Paxton grew the lily in a heated tank fitted with a waterwheel. The leaves became so large people could stand on them.
