Cuba's gift to American music: Ana Cristina, Miami
Article Abstract:
Ana Cristina, a first Hispanic in history to sing the national anthem at an inaugural event of George W. Bush's 2005 inaugural ball, blends Cuba's rhythms into her own beats, all sung in Spanish, bringing the Cuban heritage which spans from Mexican Tejano to Dominican merengue. A performer at the age of six on Univision, a Spanish language network, has cut her first album and is working on a new project with Emilio Estefan, Jr., an album in English on ballads, adding R&B rhythms.
