Sonny Garcia and Tom Valva have distinguished their row house with plentiful and lush greenery from windmill palms and phormiums and the rich color from hydrangeas, camellias and rhododendrons. The landscape design builds toward a raised deck that contains potted plants.

The greening of Michigan Avenue: an innovative planting changes the look of a Chicago street

Chicago, IL's Michigan Avenue is known for its architecture and upscale stores. Crate and Barrel added a new dimension with the planting of four 14-by-19 ft flower beds. To maintain their aesthetic consistency, the beds are replanted three times annually.
