Making those owl decoys work for you
Article Abstract:
Life-like plastic owl decoys may not serve their purpose well, scaring birds and pests away from a garden, but can be recycled for use in other ways. They can be used to hold clothes-pins, as windsocks, as pieces in the children's game 'pin the tail on the owl,' or, with a little alteration, as duck decoys. Suggested used for both molded plastic and inflatable decoys are discussed.

Cottage gardening: Bronx style
Article Abstract:
A garden growing on a New York City fire escape is used to depict success under duress. The plants are shown to survive despite limitations of space and weather, and the tenant is allowed to keep her garden provided the fire escape is accessible. Lack of space is found to be no impediment to either beautification or functionality.
