Article Abstract:

Kathryn Kennedy, President and Executive Director, Center for Plant Conservation (CPC) speaks on the threat caused to native flora by land use that destroys or degrades wetlands. She also discusses, the efforts of CPC to build a network of local communities and institutions and help that can be rendered by American gardeners by keeping invasive out of their landscapes and avoiding unnecessary spraying when pollinators are foraging.

This article focuses on the many varieties of ferns found in the Pacific Northwest that are suitable for woodland gardens. The ornamental qualities and growth requirements for several species of fern including deer, chain, dwarf, and creeping fern are discussed.
