A garden designed by Kurt Bluemel in Baltimore, MD shows hundreds of plant varieties, including trees, perennials, grasses and wildflowers. Blue atlas cedar, Hinoki false cypress and umbrella pine are growing in the garden. Conifers also serve as the garden's backdrop and accents.

Whoa, Nellie! Plant a Burford
Article Abstract:
The Chinese holly trees planted in Atlanta's Westview Cemetery by Thomas Burford around 1900 are presented. Ways of growing similar plants are described. The ecological importance of the trees especially as providers of food for birds on the winter is discussed.
