Article Abstract:
The 1897 Klondike gold rush may have had something to do with the fact that Seattle is home to an inordinate number of successful businesses such as Microsoft Corp and Boeing. People who moved to Seattle in search of gold were risk takers and energetic, characteristics of successful businessmen.

Engineers are working on a variety of projects that, to many people, would seem like far-fetched ideas. Ideas in the works include a world-wide highway that would link all the continents together; a tunnel under the Bering Strait; and a completely enclosed climate-controlled city.
